Gateway to the Inner Hebrides

‘The Wolf of Dalriada’ has just arrived at Oban Library, Argyll. A donation made in gratitude for help received when researching 18th Century Argyll.

Physically, of course, landscapes change as do human beings. Looking at the photograph of Oban next to this post, you have to remember that the clouds, sea and islands cutting into the Sound of Mull would have been the same but . . .  there would have been no street lighting, no buoys and no Roman Catholic Cathedral. Imagine the scene without these features. This is what using your visits to locations involves. And this is what makes ‘location research’ so exciting!
